Left: The trajectory of Luna 9 from launch on 31 January 1966 to landing in the Ocean of Storms (Oceanus Procellarum) on 3 February 1966. 

Centre: The Soviet coat of arms, carried to the Moon by Luna 9. 

Right: Luna 9 on the lunar surface with a portion of the first view of its surroundings, transmitted to Earth on 4 February 1966.
