Iceland 1934 – Monoplane and aurora

Iceland stamp 1934

‘Monoplane and aurora’ is how the Gibbons catalogue tersely describes the subject of these stamps, so on that basis these qualify for our listing. Without the catalogue description, though, you could be forgiven for not realizing there was an aurora in the sky – at first glance it looks more like a cloud from a volcanic eruption of the mountain.
