Poland 1946 – Copernicus memorial

Poland 1946 Copernicus memorial

The third appearance of the statue of Nicolaus Copernicus in the courtyard of the Jagiellonian University, Cracow, was as the middle-value member of a three-stamp set that was issued in favour of Polish Work for Education and the Fund for International Bureau of Education. There is also a sheet (MS 571d) comprising the three designs of the set with slightly different colours, although this sheet is rare and expensive. The same statue appeared on earlier stamps from Poland in 1940 and 1945
